What this is
I keep aquariums. I write about what I’m actually doing with them.
This isn’t a place where I’m going to sell you a miracle product or pretend every tank problem has one clean answer. It’s just... what’s working for me right now, what isn’t, and what I wish someone had told me three years ago.
Practical. Calm. Blunt when it needs to be.
Who I’m writing for
You’re probably here if:
You’re brand new and want a tank that doesn’t crash every two weeks
You’re a busy adult and need routines that actually fit into real life
You’ve been burned by retail upsells or clickbait “one weird trick” aquarium videos
You want a no-judgement place to figure this stuff out
That’s pretty much it. If you’re learning, you’re welcome here.
What you’ll find
I write about what I’m running—gear, routines, stocking, why I chose what I chose.
I also write about what I change when things go sideways. Algae outbreaks, fish stress, stability issues. The stuff that actually happens.
Some posts are beginner-friendly basics. Some go deeper once you’ve got the fundamentals down. I try to be clear about which is which.
I also call out common myths that sound smart but don’t actually help. And I share simple decision frameworks—what I check first, what I ignore, what I bother tracking.
My setup (so you know my bias)
I lean freshwater and planted. My main tank is a 110-gallon rimless in Phoenix, which means evaporation is a real problem and I’ve learned to deal with it.
I like simple systems that hold up when life gets busy. Because life gets busy.
I’m also learning reef soon. You’ll see that journey unfold in real-time—mistakes and all—not as some polished “I’ve mastered it” guide written after the fact.
How often I post
Weekly to biweekly, depending on what’s going on. I’m not trying to feed an algorithm. I just post when I have something useful to say.
If you want updates
There’s a subscribe option if you want new posts delivered. That’s it. No upsells, no courses, no gatekeeping. Just the posts.
